Digital Marketing Myths

Digital Marketing

There is always room in any field of work for falsehoods to take shape and become part of the mainstream as conventional truths. In truth, they are nothing but myths propagated not on the basis of merit, but rather a flawed understanding of the concepts.

Digital marketing is no stranger to such myths, propagated as a part of popular discourse without being analyzed for their real impact on a campaign. In any field where a number of factors can determine performance, myth-making becomes a nuisance.

Digital marketing myths relate to certain statements, tools, and practices which are deemed factual, useful, and bankable respectively. In this article, we debunk some common digital marketing myths.

SEO is finished

This is a rather popular digital marketing myth, one parroted often by people who have only started learning about digital marketing and SEO. The simple truth is that this is a typical example of a digital marketing myth.

SEO cannot be finished because there is still no other digital marketing technique more efficient at driving organic traffic than SEO. While old SEO techniques have been hampered by illicit black hat techniques, new and fresh SEO techniques still work and remain at the forefront of digital marketing.

Content and link-building remains is the crux of SEO. With the emphasis on these two factors, blogs and websites are likewise incentivized in quality content to help customers discover their website. The death of SEO will only be brought about if the very foundation and credibility of search engines fell, which looks highly unlikely if not impossible for now.

Digital Marketing Success is Impossible without Premium Tools

Digital marketing tools help, and that’s about it. They help digital marketers dig deeper, make their job easier through key insights and suggestions. Their data-driven approach makes them an important part of a digital marketing campaign. However, before anyone starts making claims about digital marketing tools being indispensable, we state unequivocally that this is another digital marketing myth.

Tools are supposed to make time-consuming tasks shorter. They cannot, however, replace digital marketers and do their jobs. They cannot predict with certainty the use of some digital marketing techniques, which digital marketers can base purely on intuition.

Finding success in digital marketing without the best tools is difficult. It is also more time consuming, but it is not impossible, not by any means.

Many bloggers gain droves of traffic every day purely on the basis of their talent in writing and raw digital marketing knowledge. Tools can help smooth any given digital marketing campaign, but they do not impact them as much as people generally tend to assume.

SEM harms branding

Many SEO fanatics tend to look down upon paid search ads for the simple reason that it deals with inorganic traffic. SEM, however, can be very useful for small and big brands to give the website a quick injection of traffic when they need it the most.

SEO is responsible for maintaining and causing incremental increases in traffic. SEM, on the other hand, can help a website with little or no SEO standing with high search rankings. For startups and small business, SEM can be used to provide an initial boost in traffic numbers and leads generated.
